A is for Illustration… A is for Holly Wales, Joseph Crocker and Robert Samuel Hanson.
January 04, 2010
The A award was created by YCN in 2009 to share, surprise and showcase outstanding emerging creative talent. A awards will be bestowed both as part of the long-standing YCN Student Awards, and as part of new ongoing activity aimed at emerging creatives practicing professionally in industry. The new ongoing professional A awards will be presented throughout the course of the year, each time in relation to a specific creative discipline. First up was illustration; and the form of the A award for illustration was designed for YCN by Åh.
In Autumn 2009 over 200 figures (the great and the good) from across the creative industries were invited by YCN to nominate their favourite emerging illustrators. The three most frequently nominated names would be presented with a special A award (hand-crafted in rural Burgundy by Fabien Capello from recycled Christmas trees in line with Åh's design), be profiled online and have a selection of their work showcased as part of a special exhibition at 72 Rivington Street in early 2010.
We can now delightedly announce that the three recipients are Holly Wales, Joseph Crocker and Robert Samuel Hanson (see links to their sites below). Each of the three will shortly receive their A awards and some specially commissioned A prints. We will thereafter publish profiles of each online along with timings for an exhibition of selected work from the three at 72 Rivington Street. Congratulations!
